JAMWiki has supported JDK 1.4 since its inception. However, there are compelling reasons for moving to JDK 5.0, including the ability to upgrade dependencies such as the JSTL libraries, JUnit test code, the JFlex parser plugins, etc. JDK 1.4 will continue to be supported at least through 30-October-2008, at which point that JDK version will reach its scheduled end-of-life.
Conversion to JDK 5.0 has not begun, and will not begin until at least 30-October-2008 when JDK 1.4 reaches its end-of-life.
As of 02-March-2009 this work has begun. revision 2492 drops support for JDK 1.4 from the Maven POM files, and later commits have begun adding Java 5-specific features such as use of generics, as well as upgrading dependencies to libraries that require Java 5 or later. -- Ryan • (comments) • 02-Mar-2009 22:14 PST
